Introduction To Micro SD Card

Jul 03, 2022|

Micro SD Card, formerly known as Trans-flash Card (TF card), was officially renamed as Micro SD Card in 2004. It was invented by SanDisk (SanDisk) and is mainly used in mobile phones.

Before Micro SD came into the market, mobile phone manufacturers used embedded memory. Although such modules are easy to install, they have the problem of not being able to meet the actual trend - the capacity is limited, and there is no room for upgrades. Micro SD imitates the application mode of SIM card, that is, the same card can be used in different models of mobile phones, so that mobile phone manufacturers do not have to worry about the development and design of plug-in cards. Micro SD card is enough to be called a removable storage IC.

Micro SD card is a very small flash memory card. Its format is originated from SanDisk. Originally, this memory card was called T-Flash, and was later renamed Trans Flash; SD Association (SDA) was established. Other memory cards adopted by SDA include Mini SD and SD cards. It is mainly used in mobile phones, but has been used in GPS devices, portable music players and some flash memory disks due to its small size and increasing storage capacity. Its volume is 15mmx11mmx1mm, almost equal to the size of a fingernail, and it is the smallest memory card at present. It can also be connected to the SD card slot through an SD adapter card. At present, Micro SD card provides 128MB, 256MB, 512MB, 1G, 2G, 4G, 8G, 16G, 32G, 64G, 128G capacity (during MWC 2014 Mobile World Congress, SanDisk broke the maximum capacity of 64GB memory card. Traditionally, a Micro SD XC memory card with a capacity of up to 128GB was officially released.
